Keeping Score of Sport for Term 1
2023 started with a bang… literally, as the starting gun went off for the Secondary BAC swimming carnival. It's been a successful Term 1 for sports at BAC, with plenty of achievements to celebrate.
Universities Showcase at BAC this week
Yesterday, ambassadors from ten Queensland and interstate universities and representatives from Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) and TAFE Queensland presented options and information regarding post-school study to Senior students at BAC. During an informative introductory session, students gained an insight into the costs associated with attending university, including fees, textbooks, transport, and accommodation, and were made aware of government Fee Help and scholarships offered…
2023 Secondary Swimming and House Results
BAC students shattered no less than 20 swimming records this year at the Secondary Swimming Carnival earlier this month. It was a great start to 2023 sports, and students swam their hearts out for a Stradbroke win in the cumulative annual House competition. Fraser and Moreton will get their chance to even the score at other sports carnivals, including the Upper Primary Swimming Carnival on Thursday, 9 March.
Joshua catches the wind in his sails
Joshua Lowther completed a successful voyage on the tall ship South Passage last month. Setting sail on January 14 from Manly, the Year 11 student from Brisbane Adventist College joined a crew of other young Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award candidates on an experience offered by The South Passage Foundation. The week-long adventure saw Joshua joining a 'watch' (team) and sailing the ship to Bulwer Moreton Island, Port Bundaberg, K'gari Fraser Island, Tangalooma, and back to Manly. During the…
New PE and Sports Uniforms
We are excited to showcase our new PE and Sports uniform. Our aim was to create a uniform of increased quality, comfort and flexibility, while maintaining affordability. The refreshed design strengthens College identity and visibility on and off the sporting field. It also aligns the PE uniform with BAC Sports team wear, as they now share a common look and feel. College stakeholders, including students, parents and staff, alumni and the College Advisory Council, were involved in the design…

They join more than 1,050 certified teachers out of the 300,000 nationwide. As Head of Science and Secondary Coordinator of Senior Learning and Teaching at…
Musical review: The Prodigal Clown
Exuberant and joyful, a tapping-on-the-heartstrings spectacle: such was the impact of Brisbane Adventist College's Primary production of The Prodigal Clown. This story of a father's unconditional love (Aquinnon Sanele) for his two sons and his extended circus family was heart-warming, filled with fun, dad jokes, hilarious clowns, an over-eager knife thrower (Lucy Cantrill), a hard-working but implacable older son (Arlo Purtell), and a clown with a smile that was only painted on. Daring deeds…
No holiday for Natascha
Our very own Natascha Tennent goes from strength to strength as a champion golfer despite ligamentous laxity, which causes coordination problems and muscle fatigue and makes 18 holes feel more like a 36-hole supercourse for the plucky Year 10 student! Determined since the day she first picked up a golf club, this does not hold her back. Out of hundreds of nominees from schools around Australia, Natascha was selected as one of six student finalists for the 2022 Edstart Achievement Awards…
Once Upon a Book Week
Every year, the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) invites schools and students to explore another world of possibilities within the pages of books – and this year was a real page-turner! The 2022 theme, Dreaming with eyes open, celebrates nature and Australian children’s authors with a focus on First Nations people and their rich, story-based culture. "When I heard that this was the theme, it reminded me of what Albert Einstein said about imagination," says College Principal Mr…
