College Character

Our College is a community built on shared values, respect, and a strong sense of responsibility to one another.

We believe positive behaviour is not just about following rules, but about the choices students make each day to act with kindness, integrity, and consideration. Through clear expectations, consistent language, and recognition of positive contributions, we aim to create a safe, inclusive environment where students are supported to learn, grow, and develop into thoughtful, respectful members of the community.

The BAC Way

Starting in Primary, The BAC Way is a code that demonstrates how our values and beliefs are lived daily.

We celebrate these values at our weekly assembly by affirming Primary students particularly recognised for living out these characteristics through our BAC Way Awards.

In Secondary, we recognise a consistent application of these values and behaviours by awarding students who meet the criteria a Diamond Award at our end of year Awards Ceremony.

  1. WE LOVE AND RESPECT GOD: We speak reverently about God and we share our love for Him with others.
  2. WE LIFT OTHERS UP: We do not use put-downs, tease or bully others. This includes not sending hurtful electronic messages. We always look for ways to build and lift others up.
  3. WE ARE ON TIME: We get to school on time and move quickly to each class.
  4. WE LOOK SMART: We wear full uniform and we wear it correctly and with pride.
  5. WE ARE CLEAN AND TIDY: We organise ourselves, and we do not walk past rubbish; we pick it up and put it in the bin.
  6. WE ARE GOOD HOSTS: We greet each other, and all visitors to our school. We stop, smile and we say “good morning” or “good afternoon”.
  7. WE RESPECT EACH OTHER: We use our correct names and titles, and make eye contact with others. We speak softly and kindly to all people.
  8. WE LOVE LEARNING: We do our best in class and we do not interfere with the learning of others.
  9. WE LOVE OUR COLLEGE: We speak well of BAC and we always look for new ways to better our school.
  10. WE ARE SAFE: We do not risk our health and well-being or the welfare of others.
  11. WE ARE GOOD CARETAKERS: We take good care of our property and respect things that belong to others.
  12. WE ALWAYS DO OUR BEST: We always try to do our best in everything we do, including when we sing, play, learn and speak.
The Diamond Award

The Diamond Award recognises Secondary students who consistently demonstrate the values that strengthen our College community. It celebrates those who make a genuine, positive impact through their behaviour, attitude, and the way they treat others, both in and out of the classroom.

When selecting Diamond Award recipients, we take great care to ensure our decisions are fair, consistent, and based on clear evidence. At the same time, we use our professional judgement to ensure that a rare, out-of-character mistake does not overshadow the positive contribution we aim to recognise with this award.

CRITERIA

We aim to recognise students who contribute positively to our school. Students are considered for the Diamond Award if they consistently:

  • Conduct themselves in a manner in harmony with our core values of integrity, respect, and joy, underpinned by an appreciation of our desire to do Everything With God;
  • Contribute to a positive and respectful learning culture through their engagement in class activities;
  • Build community by showing kindness and respect towards peers and staff;
  • Demonstrate pride in their appearance by wearing their full uniform correctly in a neat and tidy manner (students who have received more than eight uniform passes in a year, or who regularly choose not to wear their uniform correctly, are likely to be ineligible); and
  • Respect their own time and the time of others, and demonstrate this by arriving on time to school and class.
