Learning and Development

Through a holistic approach to learning and development we focus on fostering each child’s social, emotional, spiritual, cognitive, and physical growth and skill development through meaningful, play-based interactions.

Our educators are deeply committed to:

  • Catering to each child’s developmental stage and interests
  • Providing opportunities for project-based and inquiry-led learning
  • Designing advanced activities for children ready for deeper exploration
  • Encouraging spiritual growth through stories, prayer, and Christian teachings
Mixed-age Learning

We embrace mixed-age groupings and see them as a powerful tool for fostering growth, learning, and community. This approach provides opportunities for children to play and learn alongside peers of different ages, encouraging empathy, leadership, cooperation, and confidence. We see children grow not only at their own pace, but also through meaningful social connections that mirror real-world communities.

This approach also reflects the Biblical principle of mentorship and servant leadership:

“Train up a child in the way he should go.” – Proverbs 22:6

“Let the little children come to me.” – Matthew 19:14

Benefits of Mixed-age Learning
  • Older children become role models, learning to be patient, kind, and nurturing – qualities that reflect Christ’s love and prepare them for future leadership and service.
  • Younger children benefit from observing and emulating older peers, gaining confidence and learning new skills in a supportive environment.
  • Children learn at their own pace, focusing on what they can do rather than what they cannot do, fostering a sense of achievement and self-worth.
  • Cooperation replaces competition, creating a family-like atmosphere where children support one another.
  • Our structure leads to a stable continuity of care which allows children to build lasting relationships with educators and peers, promoting emotional security and deeper, intentional, individualised learning.

PREP-READINESS

Our kindy curriculum focuses on the development of essential Prep-readiness skills through structured routines, group activities, and opportunities for following instructions. We practice foundational literacy and numeracy concepts while building social and emotional capabilities like sharing, independence, and managing emotions, ensuring that when our children enter Prep they do so feeling confident and prepared for this transition.

Compliance, Frameworks, and Learning Guidelines

All aspects of our programs, activities and experiences comply with the requirements of the Child Care Act (2002) and Child Care Regulations (2003). We base our programs on the learning outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF V2) and Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG).
