Richard Thompson is the Instrumental Music Tutor and Director of Ensembles at Brisbane Adventist College. In his role as strings tutor and ensemble director, he conducts both the Primary and Secondary String Ensembles alongside a growing, multi-instrumental Worship Ensemble. He holds a dual Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education (Secondary) from The University of Queensland, bringing over a decade of specialised classroom and studio experience to the role.
Prior to joining Brisbane Adventist College, Richard spent 12 years as an Instrumental Music Teacher with the Queensland Department of Education, successfully developing and managing vibrant string programs at primary and secondary schools. Demonstrating strong administrative and community leadership, he spent several years coordinating a major regional music camp, which engaged 250 students from 18 schools each year. Richard uses his expertise to cultivate technical excellence, musicality, and a lifelong love for performance in every student.
