Instrumental Music Program

Our Instrumental Music Program provides the opportunity for students to learn from expert musicians in a range of instruments, as well as voice and music theory. This is an extra-curricular program and is in addition to our curricular music program.

Private music tuition is currently available in the following areas:

Strings (Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass)
Guitar (Acoustic, Electric, Bass)
Piano
Woodwind (Flute)
Voice
Music Theory

Enrolment

Our Instrumental Music Coordinator is pleased to work with you to assess your child's suitability for a particular instrument, or voice lessons. You can arrange this by contacting us at music@bac.qld.edu.au. You may also go ahead and enrol your child in instrumental tuition or voice lessons by completing the relevant enrolment or expression of interest form below.

Fees

Instrumental music and voice lessons operate in term blocks. Enrolment and withdrawal from the program is managed by BAC.

30-minute lessons:

$39.00 per lesson (Semester 1, 2024)
$40.00 per lesson (Semester 2, 2024)

Fees are invoiced directly through your Instrumental Music Tutor at the beginning of each term and are payable by Week 3).

Band and ensemble levies:

$50.00 each year (non-refundable, charged to your fee account)

Enrolment from term to term and year to year is automatic. Lessons will cease upon the completion of an Unenrolment Form or in circumstances where school fees are in arrears.

Ensembles

New in 2024 Flute Ensemble and Guitar Ensemble

Open for expressions of interest, beginning Term 1 2024.

Primary String Ensemble

Rehearsals: 7:20am to 8:20am, Wednesday
Location: MPC Music Room
Audition: Any student playing an instrument from the string family (violin, viola, cello, double bass) is invited to audition. Lessons with a BAC string teacher may take the place of a formal audition.

Primary Choir

Rehearsals: Weekday lunchtimes
Location: Primary Music Room
Audition: Any student who loves to sing!

Secondary String Ensemble

Rehearsals: 7:30am to 8:30am, Thursday
Location: MPC Music Room
Audition: Any student playing an instrument from the string family (violin, viola, cello, double bass) is invited to audition. Lessons with a BAC string teacher may take the place of a formal audition.

Secondary Celtic Ensemble

Rehearsals: 8:30am, Thursday
Location: MPC Music Room
Audition: Any interested student playing string instruments, guitar, bass, percussion. Sight reading not essential.

Secondary Choir

Rehearsals: Thursday lunchtime
Location: MPC Music Room
Audition: Any student who loves to sing!

Secondary Worship Band

Rehearsals: Weekday lunchtimes as per roster
Location: Chaplain's Office
Audition: Any Secondary student interested in serving God through praise and worship (instrument or voice)
