Faith & Values
Faith in Prep is simple: Jesus loves us and teaches us to be kind to others.
Faith in Prep is simple: Jesus loves us and teaches us to be kind to others.
Imagine children sitting cross-legged on a bright mat. The teacher is telling a simple Bible story about Jesus helping someone. Then a familiar song begins, and small voices, a little off‑key but very enthusiastic, join in. When they are done, the teacher invites them to close their eyes if they’d like and talk to Jesus. In plain, childlike words, they thank Him for friends, families, and the new day ahead.
Faith is simple in Prep. It’s about a Creator who loves the world and wants to be our friend and helper. It’s about the values that Jesus taught – to be a good neighbour and stand up for those who are lonely or sick. We talk about “The BAC Way” and what it means to love and respect God, to lift others up, and show respect in words and actions. In five-year-old language, it sounds something like this: “Jesus used kind words and included everyone. So can we.”
While BAC is a Christian school, we welcome children from many faith and cultural backgrounds, including families with no religious affiliation. Encounter – which is about finding and meeting Jesus – and morning devotions are offered from an Adventist perspective, with age-appropriate stories and songs that invite curiosity.
As they settle into their new environment, Prep children also join the Primary school in weekly Chapel services, take part in our Week of Worship program, and get to know our chaplains, who visit to tell stories and sing songs with them.
In all of this, God is a natural part of day-to-day life and learning – shaping not only what children know, but the kind, thoughtful, and hopeful way they move through their school days.
