The College enters multiple teams from Years 5 to 9 in the Queensland Debating Union competition and hosts the regional tournaments on our campus four times each year. In these events, up to 50 teams pit their verbal virtuosity against one another in fierce but friendly competition.
Debating is a proven way of cultivating critical thinking and communication skills, fostering understanding of another’s perspective, and practicing teamwork and cooperation. It embodies and encourages peaceful discussion and tolerance rather than aggression, skills that are both timely and necessary in today’s society.
