Embedding lost traditions

For some time now, BAC has been looking for ways to embed tradition in our daily practice.

1. We started with the BAC bell, donated by the Hinrichsen family in 1966 and taking its original position on the eastern wall of the first primary building. From there, it heralded the start and close of day. Now restored to its former glory, the BAC bell heralds the end of a high school career and the beginning of new endeavours as College graduates participate in their final parade before stepping out into the world as young adults. (Read more about this story by clicking on the thumbnail at the bottom of this page.)

2. Over the past 12 months, we have also gathered primary sources to sketch out the history of the College, from 1966 through to today. A version of this will become part of a compilation of Adventist researched historical documents in an updated version of the Encyclopedia of SDAs at the end of 2020. Although there is much to still be discovered from our archives, we now have a somewhat complete picture of the school across its almost-55-year lifespan. (Read the document by clicking on the thumbnail at the bottom of this page.)

3. This year, we are seeking to establish another significant tradition: a regular historical series on the Brisbane Adventist College Facebook page called WayBAC Wednesdays, inspired by the Wayback Machine, a digital archive of the worldwide web that enables people to reach back in time and discover old information and archived memories. We dearly hope that our former students, teachers, staff, and administrators will also find their 'WayBAC' to us.

Alumni Gala Dinner

As a way of celebrating our alumni and the big anniversary years, BAC hope to host an inaugural ALUMNI GALA DINNER in 2020. However, due to COVID-19 this event has been postponed from June 6 to a date to be announced. Please stay tuned.
