If a student needs to leave the school grounds before normal departure time, he/she must be collected from the Administration Office and the book signed by his/her parent/caregiver.

IMPORTANT: Please report to our front office and sign your child in or out if they are late or they have to leave school early.

Tuckshop

A vegetarian tuck shop operates on Mondays and Wednesdays. Students may order lunch items through their classrooms on those mornings. Snacks may be purchased at lunch time and recess. Please provide a paper bag with the tuck shop order printed clearly and with the money enclosed.

Discipline

The main objective of discipline on the Primary campus is redemptive, not punitive. The affected student should be shown a clear link between cause and effect, action and consequence. There is no place for simply punitive discipline at Brisbane Adventist College. Love and concern for the student should be the overriding motivation for disciplinary measures, making clear the wider, societal impact of inappropriate behaviour. The structure below outlines the ascending steps that discipline takes at Brisbane Adventist College Primary Campus:

Step 1

The primary responsibility for student management and discipline rests with the classroom teacher, and is based on a trusting relationship between teacher and student. This relationship helps foster healthy self-esteem and good decision-making in our students, as well as promoting respect for the teacher’s as the “Learning Leader”. Teachers use a variety of positive behaviour management strategies to modify and manage student behaviour.

Step 2

When student behaviour fails to respond to class-based discipline, a referral is made to the Administration Assistant for further intervention. In extreme cases, a direct referral to the Primary Deputy Principal and/or Principal may be made by the Administration Assistant.

Detention

Detentions may be given if a student fails to respond to reason, counselling and regular sanctions. A student on detention will bring a conduct letter home for the parents to read, sign and comment on.

Conduct Cards

A record of student behaviour is kept on individual cards. These cards are managed by the classroom teacher. Conduct cards reflect both positive and negative attributes of the student’s behaviour throughout the year. BAC Primary enforces a “zero tolerance” on bullying. Bullying in any of its forms is addressed promptly and thoroughly by all staff members.
