Facilities

General Purpose Classrooms

All our general purpose classrooms are spacious and well-equipped for learning. They are well appointed for student displays and all are fitted with air-conditioning and heating.

Specialist Classrooms

We have specialist classrooms for ESL, Sport/PE, Music and Enhanced Learning. Students enjoy learning in these specialist areas where they can master the specific skills of each specialist subject.

Prep Centre

In 2009 we plan to open our new Prep Centre. This will be a purpose built specialist 2 classroom Prep Centre to cater for our growing roll. It is anticipated that these new buildings will allow us to increase our roll in this part of the College.

Computer Lab

We have a modern and well equipped computer lab which all primary students access in class time for research and technology lessons.

Student Centre

We have a modern and fully equipped Student Centre where students can enjoy a variety of indoor sports such as badminton, basketball, volleyball and netball. The centre is also used for chapel and assembly programmes, and events such as school productions and end-of-year speech nights.

Outdoor Courts and Ovals Primary

There is ample hard surface outdoor play areas including outdoor basketball, netball and tennis courts. Primary students also have access to three ovals for soccer, touch, rugby, softball and cricket. Our students also enjoy a good game of handball!

Learning Centre & Library

The Learning Centre and Library is an exciting place of learning for our students. Our staff are there to help students in any way they can, particularly in reading, researching and computing. There are two library staff members ready to assist:

  • Teacher librarian – this person helps with teaching, plus library and teaching resource enquiries. On occasions they can help with computing or printer problems in the computer lab.
  • Library Assistant – this person helps with resource enquiries. They look after the circulation desk, handle overdue books, laminating resources, create our beautiful displays, and generally help you in any way they can.

Student borrowing at BAC Primary Library is for one week. Class teachers book the library for half-hour time slots for students to return their library books and borrow new books for the next week. This time is set in the timetable for each year level and the teacher will notify you at the beginning of the year which day your child we go to the library. If your child has finished reading their book and wish to return it before the given day, they may do so during lunch or recess.

  • Prep-Grade 3 - may borrow from the Story Pit. Fiction, non-fiction and videos are available. Students may borrow one video and two books, or three books for one week. Magazines are also available for students to borrow.
  • Grades 4-5 - may borrow from all sections of the library. Students may borrow one video and three books, or four books for one week. Magazines are also available for students to borrow.
  • Grades 6-7 - may borrow from all sections of the library. Students may borrow one video and four books, or four books for one week. Magazines are also available for students to borrow.

It is compulsory for all students to use a library bag when borrowing from our library. We sell library bags in the library for $3.50.

Our library closes for borrowing four weeks before the end of school, which enables us to get all overdue books back in our library, and to conduct our annual stock take. We look forward to sharing our primary library with all BAC primary students and staff.
